AENON's customers don't buy seaweed. They raise cattle and produce milk and beef. Our solutions start with the animal — then work back to the science.

Technology

Why can AENON make marine bioactives work inside the rumen?

Tropical red seaweeds contain bioactive compounds that interact with rumen microorganisms. AENON's proprietary solid-state fermentation (SSF) process is designed to make these seaweed bioactives suitable for ruminant feed applications, enabling a dual-pathway approach to methane reduction.

AENON is developing a proprietary fermentation approach for seaweed-based feed additive applications. The process is designed to transform selected seaweed substrates into a formulation suitable for ruminant feed integration.

01
Marine Bioactives — Selected Red Seaweed
Selected red seaweed species — Eucheuma denticulatum (Spinosum) and Kappaphycus alvarezii (Cottonii) — providing sulphated polysaccharides and rumen-active bioactive compounds. Indonesia / Philippines origin.
02
Solid-State Fermentation (SSF)
AENON's proprietary SSF process transforms selected seaweed substrates into a formulation suitable for ruminant feed application. Designed to preserve and activate marine bioactive compounds.
03
Microbial Modulation — Targeting Rumen Archaea
Seaweed bioactives directly suppress methanogenic archaea — the microbial population responsible for methane synthesis in the rumen. No synthetic chemicals, no bromoform, no halogenated compounds.
04
Rumen Energy Flow — H₂ to Propionate
Metabolic hydrogen that would have produced methane is redirected toward propionate synthesis — the primary energy source for ruminants. Feed efficiency and digestibility are preserved, not compromised.
05
Climate Impact — Lower Methane per Animal
~50% CH₄ inhibition in in-vitro rumen fermentation assay (preliminary). In-vivo trial in collaboration with Seoul National University Pyeongchang Research Farm — site visit completed, trial infrastructure confirmed. Trial start: Q4 2026.

Animal Performance
to Climate Value

The sequence matters. Performance comes first. Carbon value follows from measured, verified methane reduction — not the other way around.

01
Feed Delivery
SeaTrace™ SC-1 mixed into existing TMR. No protocol change required.
02
Rumen Action
Marine bioactives modulate rumen microbial environment in the animal.
03
Methane Reduction
Archaea suppression reduces CH₄ output. Propionate pathway preserves energy.
04
Measurement
GHG Protocol / ISO 14064 aligned measurement and verification.
05
Climate Value

Carbon Value

Turn measurable methane reduction into measurable climate value.

Korea's low-carbon livestock programme offers ~₩55,000/head/year for certified farms. K-ETS carbon credits provide additional revenue. All carbon calculations are indicative, based on published IPCC and VCM methodologies. Actual credit issuance depends on verified measurement and certification.

Not just for cattle

AENON's seaweed fermentation technology works for poultry, pigs, farmed fish, and pets too. It helps keep the gut healthy, makes eggshells stronger, and keeps animals hydrated even when they don't drink enough.
